Summit 2024 is nearly here!

We are nearly ready to open registrations for our 2024 Diabetes Summit.  We are thrilled that we are going to be welcomed onto Te Manukanuka o Hoturoa Marae at Auckland Airport on the evening of 26 September.

This is the 4th Summit we have run, each of which has had a different theme.  This time the theme running through the presentations from the excellent lineup of speakers is about disparity, something that in health has the potential to affect every aspect of diagnosis, delivery of treatment, care and service, right through to access  and uptake of medications and technology.

Highlighting something topical in the area of diabetes, such as disparity, is part of our Summit planning, but fundamental also is the 'return' to our community of some of the results and findings from information gathered from the very many people who generously participate in and support research.  This 'return' is an essential part of conducting research, but can be  challenging to do. We hope that this community based forum, and a video to capture the event, will go some way towards undoing the perception that research can be a process that is more about 'taking' when information is gathered than 'giving back'.

Please check our Facebook page for updates on registering to attend the event, or if unable to be there face-to-face, keep an eye out for the video which will be on our website and YouTube channel when completed.

Grateful thanks to our hosts and speakers, our sponsors (Boehringer Ingelheim, Lilly, Novo Nordisk), Claire and team at The Renew Room, Will at Campfire Studios, Te Manukanuka o Hoturoa Marae, and last but not least, those who have participated in and contributed to the research and projects presented.
