Regarding the Pharmac decision to delay diabetes medication (Empagliflozin and Dulaglutide) funding, Dr Baker, Board Chair of Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa was giving Pharmac the "benefit of the doubt" in that they may be responding to recent research and feedback from clinicians that the proposed model wouldn't have worked to get maximum benefit. Dr Baker however reiterates that New Zealand does need to have better than the current "third world" treatments available.
