Welcome to our newest Board Member - Ruby McGill

The Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa is thrilled to welcome Ruby McGill (Te Ātiawa) as a new member of the Board of Trustees.

Ruby is a well known advocate for people with diabetes, particularly Type 1.  Her bio describes her as "Blogger, business owner, mum and Type 1 diabetes (T1D) warrior who is determined to live a long, full and healthy life, while sharing her experience to help others thrive with T1D. Ruby was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was 14 years old. And has become a staunch advocate for people living with diabetes being able to access the tools, medicines and support needed to live well. Believing strongly that it shouldn't be a luxury to live well with diabetes in New Zealand".

But wait...there's more...Ruby has worked with a number of organisations such as Diabetes New Zealand and Diabetes Youth, presented at Parliament, designed and runs her own programme to help people with diabetes live better, participated in our 2021 Diabetes summit and was a very well received key-not speaker at the NZSSD conference.

Welcome Ruby, and we're all looking forward to working with you.
