Our thanks to Rinki Murphy, Honorary Medical director 2019-2021

The time has gone by in a flash since Associate Professor Rinki Murphy agreed to accept the 2-year position of Honorary Medical Director for the Foundation back in 2019.  Rinki brought her skills is an endocrinologist working both with adolescent patients for Counties Manukau Health,  and adult patients for Greenlane/Auckland.  With some of her time spent at University of Auckland, and being an avid researcher, Rinki's passion about achieving improvements in outcomes made her a great asset to the Foundation's mahi.

Rinki is behind the "Which One is Right (WORTH)" randomised cross-over trial of vildagliptin and pioglitazone study that Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa acted as a study site from 2019 until conclusion (study protocol here), so it's been great having her input and support at community level.

Rinki always has a range of projects under consideration or on the go, and remains keen on disentangling the picture around diabetes and the response to treatment, as well as the taking of a precision approach to diabetes management.

We express our sincere appreciation for her time in the role, and wish Rinki all the best.  We look forward to seeing the results of the WORTH study and having the opportunity to work with her on other projects over time.
