Celebrating 21 Amazing Years

Diabetes Projects Trust has celebrated 21 years.   Where to take the actual official starting date from was a bit of a challenge, was it when the first project started, was it this document or that...the decision was eventually taken that 2013 would be THE year!

Much time was spent going back through old records, asking current team members who they were still in touch with, trawling social media, and examining names on documents, posters and  presentations in order to identify individuals instrumental in making the organisation what it is today.  The word was sent out, the planning went ahead, the waiata was practiced, then the day came.

Ultimately we had an excellent turnout, including original founder of the organisation, David Simmons over from Australia, previous and current Board members and staff, as well as members of the community and other organisations.  The morning was spent in recognition, celebration, revisiting stories, checking out old photos and history, sharing food and most importantly cake.   No DPT event would be complete without an exercise session, taken of course by Trish and Puna.   Tales were told, those absent were acknowledged, and a great time was had by all.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us, and for the good wishes sent by those who couldn't attend.   Please check out some of the photos taken at the event below, and don't forget to stay in touch for our next celebration!
