Showcasing community gardens across Tāmaki Makaurau

On our Facebook pages (Diabetes Foundation Aotearoa and Gardens4Health) we've posted recently about a few of the community gardens we've been working with.    Facilitator for West/North Auckland, Tania, has been out and about with gifts of seedlings and supplies for some of the gardens in her areas, and you'll be seeing more soon from other areas.

Sometimes there's a community garden tucked down a side street near you, on your drive somewhere, or a new one develops you hadn't been aware of before.  Some are community plots where everyone works together, others are based around taking responsibility for your own plot.   With the warmer weather it's perfect time to look at this different way of getting involved in producing your own fresh fruit and vegetables. There are over 90 community gardens and food production initiatives that our team from Gardens4Health are involved in across Auckland so it's clear that having your own home garden isn't the only way to grow your own food, save money, beautify and protect your environment and get out and about in your community!
